This is the rather amazing and luxurious looking Pro Palette from MAC.
There are five different shades to choose from ranging from Beautiful Browns to Perfect Plums (I LOVE alliteration!)
I decided to choose the Preferred Pinks Pro Palette, as I REALLY wanted to try the shade Violetta (that beautiful bright purple shade in the left corner, as this is only available in pro stores)
First Impressions: It's typical MAC, beautiful matt-black packaging with a see-through top casing (which is brilliant; you can actually see the lipsticks you have, without having to even open it) It looks beautiful on the dressing table.
It's quite thin and it I really don't think it would travel well, as there's not much to it.
When you open it the first think you notice, is the gorgeous Vanilla Mac Smell, it's beautiful (seriously, MAC need to release the scent as a perfume)
So, let's have a look at the shades and the finishes:
Violetta (Amplified Creme)
Creme De La Femme (Frost Finish)
Snow Orchid (Amplified Creme)
Please Me (Matte)
Pretty Please (Luster)
My favorite part, the swatches:
Violetta + Creme De La + Lovelorn + Snow Orchid + Please Me + Pretty Please
So, how do the shades stand up:
Without a doubt I LOVE Violetta, it's so bright and powerful, I know it looks scary but it's amazing! It's so long lasting and it glides on, and doesn't emphasize dryness on the lips. It has the most beautiful glossy sheen and almost looks like you're wearing lipgloss over the lipstick. It may look scary, but it suits my pale complexion. It's just so beautiful and can be built up to give an even more beautiful purple shade. True love : )
Creme De La Femme:
Described as pink laced with gold; it's a beautiful subtle pink shade, which gives the lips a lovely looking shine, however I found that it can be quite drying and doesn't seem to last as long as other MAC lipsticks. It's a perfect day time lip though, it helps to perk up my pale skin tone, and I'm sure it's one of those lipsticks that would look lovely on all skin tones!
Since this has a Luster finish, this gives a beautiful glossy finish which complements the natural colour of the lips. I find that Luster lipsticks are very personal as they tend to change depending on who is wearing them. It looks more bubblegum pink on my lips, especially against my pale skin tone.
Snow Orchid is a beautiful vibrant shade of fuchsia pink mixed with a beautiful purple shading. It's very bold and bright and certainly gets you noticed! It's feels lovely and creamy on the lips and comes a close second to Violetta to being my favorite shade in the palette. It's so pigmented and wears for a good few hours before needing re-application.
Please me is a lovely light pink shade with golden yellow undertones, on my skin tone, the golden undertones appear almost orange, which is rather strange! It is so creamy and beautiful, it doesn't look dry, even on my lips and it lasts ages! Unfortunately, I feel that this shade would look better against a darker skin-tone.
Pretty Please is a frosted pale pink that is semi sheer on the lips. As you can see from the swatches it is so sheer it is almost iridescent. It gives lips a glossy sheen, that looks lovely on and is perfect for those who want their lips to look glossy but without the need for lipgloss!
The only thing this palette is missing is an applicator! SO, I kinda cheated and I used my Real Techniques Detailer Brush, see those brushes have all sorts of crazy uses!
PS: This is my first time doing Lip Swatches and I was so nervous about posting this as I thought that they looked crappy, but ah well, any swatches are better than no swatches, so I thought I would be brave and show everyone how these lipsticks looked on the lips! : D
What do you think of the palette?
Do you own any of the lip palettes?
